What Does Dysport® Treat?

Dysport® injections primarily treat dynamic wrinkles on the glabella. The glabella is the area of skin between the eyebrows, forehead, and nose that make up one of the most highly visible parts of the face. These wrinkles, known as frown lines, are wrinkles that form due to repetitive facial expressions. Dysport® is a prescription injection that treats these moderate to severe frown lines.

Botox ® vs. Dysport®

While Botox and Dysport® are both prescription botulinum toxin injections, the main difference between these two cosmetic injections is in their applications. Botox is highly potent compared to Dysport®, which makes it a better option for more difficult wrinkles. Dysport®, however, is more diluted, which makes it better for spreading on parts of the body with a greater surface area like the forehead.

Dysport® Procedure

Prior to your Las Vegas Dysport® treatment, Dr. Phong will recommend medications you should stop taking before your injections. In most cases, these include allergy medications, blood thinners, and muscle relaxers.

Like other cosmetic injections, receiving Dysport® injections are a relatively easy procedure. On average, it takes Dr. Phong between 10 and 20 minutes to administer the Dysport® injections. Local anesthesia isn’t necessary for this procedure because Dysport® is injected with very fine needles; some patients will experience very minimal discomfort, but ultimately the procedure is painless.

Recovery

There is no necessary or required recovery time after receiving Dysport® injections. It is recommended to refrain from any strenuous activities for at least a few hours after your treatment, but you can go to work and partake in other normal activities immediately.

Results

While Dysport® produces natural looking results, when you can start to see them will vary from patient to patient. Most begin to see visible improvement from their Dysport® injections within 2 to 3 days after treatment. On average, results last around five months before you’ll need a follow-up treatment.

As stated prior, Dysport® lasts on average about 4-5 months. However, to make the most of your Dysport® treatment, there are a few steps you can take. These include:

Using sunscreen to minimize the effect of the sun’s UV rays.
Eating a healthy diet with minimally processed foods. Processed and packaged foods can cause inflammation which can inhibit the natural results of your Dysport® treatment.
Avoiding stress when possible.
Maintaining follow-up treatments. Like all other cosmetic injections, Dysport® isn’t permanent, so you’ll need to schedule future treatments to maintain your results.

Can Dysport® treat under the eyes?

Yes, Dysport® can treat wrinkles under the eyes, like crow’s feet. Due to being less potent than Botox, you’ll need around 25 units of Dysport® per side to achieve similar results.

Is Dysport® worth it?

If you’re looking for a safe and effective method to treat the moderate to severe wrinkles on your face, then Dysport® may be worth it to you.

However, Dysport® isn’t intended for pregnant women, children under the age of 2, those with a milk allergy, or who have had allergic reactions to other botulinum toxins, and is not recommended for people over the age of 65.
